Men’s Lacrosse Beats Utica 14-2

Dennis Butler made 14 saves while only allowing two goals.
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Bombers scored the first eight goals of the game en route to a 14-2 victory over Utica.
 
Sophomore Matt Nelligan (Pingree School/Rowley, Mass.) and freshman Mike Cintineo (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) led the Bombers with three goals each. Senior Brandon Geluso (Harborfields/Greenlawn) scored two goals and added a career-high three assists. Sophomore Mike Nowak (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) and freshman Alec Siefert (Duxbury/Duxbury, Mass.) each recorded two goals. Siefert and freshman Dwight Weld (East Chapel Hill/Chapel Hill, N.C.) both scored the first goals of their collegiate careers. Senior Doug Lumb (Auburn/Auburn) also added a goal for the Bombers.
 
Junior Dennis Butler (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) made 14 saves in more than 50 minutes of work for Ithaca. Utica’s two goals were the fewest scored by an Ithaca opponent since April 17, 2001 when the Bombers defeated Keuka 23-1.
 
Ithaca (5-2, 2-0 Empire 8), who has won its last 11 regular-season Empire 8 contests, remained unbeaten all-time against Utica (5-2, 1-1 Empire 8). The Bombers have won all six games against the Pioneers by at least eight goals.
 
Ithaca hosts sixth-ranked Cortland on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
